You can fight me on them, it is just what I think
- On general noise – basically striking a balance between keeping a lil quiet and also understanding there will always be noise and you canât be mad about it
- Bring ear plugs and an eye cover – hostels are shared and thus some noise and light is 100% expected
- Time spent in the bunk room should be quiet enough to be respectful to nappers; if you wanna chat just use the common areas. Not like a hard rule but is obviously just nicer
- Donât use grocery bags to organize clothes bc they are soooo loud
- Donât leave your stuff all over the place
- Donât hang your wet clothes above other peopleâs stuff or beds
- On drunk people
- Sober sleepers – drunk people coming and going are a given. Donât get mad at them if theyâre a little noisy bc you should have brought ear plugs.
- Drunk partiers – do not turn on lights, do not puke, make sure to prep before your night out by leaving out your toiletries and pajamas ready so you cause the least disturbance possible, also pls just remember your bunk # and room key
- Look out for each other in bar crawls lol
- Donât do anything more than make out pls for the love of god
- Slightly hotter hot takes:
- If you have to wake up between 2 and 6am for a flight, please for everyoneâs sake get a private room the night before or pack super well and have a super silent alarm to get up
- If youâve been told all your life that youâre a super loud snorer, a 12 person hostel bunk room is not for you. You will do the opposite of make friends. I get it isnât your fault you snore but also donât punish everyone
- If you are in a group and you take up all the bunks except one or two, just be nice to the solo people bc youâre honestly ruining the social vibe and opportunities by being exclusive
Bonus: Things to Look for When Booking a Hostel

- Bare minimum more than 1 toilet stall and shower per room
- 8+ rating on HostelWorld
- A solid hangout area
- A bar or resto downstairs is the best
- Plenty of floor or locker space for bags
- 24 hour reception
